What is the Hike for Hospice?

The Hike for Hospice Palliative Care is a unique national fundraising event across Canada that brings together organizations working in hospice palliative care to raise funds and awareness in their community! Each year, thousands of ‘hikers’ will participate in events put on by their local hospice palliative care organizations. All funds raised during the Hike for Hospice Palliative Care stay within the community in which they were raised.

How do I register or make a donation?

Registration is open NOW. To register click the “Register Here” Button on the hike event page.

When does the Hike occur?

The Hike will take place rain or shine Sunday, June 9th. Registration/check-in, wristband and T-shirt pick up begins at 9:00AM, and following some warm-up stretches, the Hike begins at 11:00AM.

Where does the Hospice Toronto Hike happen?

Our Hike, in partnership with Philip Aziz Centre & Emily’s House, begins at Riverdale Park West in Cabbagetown, at the NE corner of Sumach St. and Carlton St. (Same area as the Riverdale Farm)

Can we register as a team?

YES, please click on the registration page and choose either Join a Team, or Create a Team, and fill out the form.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, registration costs $30.00 to offset the expenses for hosting the Hike.

What is the distance of the Hike?

Weather permitting, we will offer two routes to choose from. If you’re feeling ambitious there’s the 5km hike along the Don River, or enjoy a more leisurely pace on a 2km through historic Cabbagetown.

Will there be prizes?

Yes, there will be lots of Prizes. Categories for Prizes will be detailed in ongoing communications and Prize winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Will there be T-Shirts available?

Yes. T-shirts will be provided at the registration table on June 9th. We will do our best to have your size available but there is a limited quantity per shirt size.

Will refreshments be available?

There will be snacks provided as well as a BBQ food-truck serving hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers when hikers with a wristband return to the park.

Who/how do I connect if I have questions? 

Are there opportunities for me to help as a volunteer? 

We would welcome your support! There are volunteer opportunities for registration, operating children’s fun-zone activities, course marshals, and other areas. Email volunteer@hospicetoronto.ca if you’re interested in volunteering at the Hike.

How can I help promote the Hike? 

Some hikers are serious about completing the 5km in a certain time and will be training in advance of the Hike. If you’re building those calves to be ready to speed through the course, please share moments from your training with us on @Hike4Toronto and tag your posts with #Hike4HospiceToronto to inspire others.
